Kansas Gains Full Practice Authority (FPA)!

Posted about 3 years ago by Suzette Flores

Here's some great news! Last week, Gov. Kelly signed House Bill 2279 into law. With the enactment of this legislation, the governor and state legislators have brought Kansans full and direct access to nurse practitioners (NPs). The new law will eliminate the required contract with a physician, while also requiring national certification and liability insurance as a condition of NP licensure and practice. Kansas has now become the 26th U.S. state — along with the District of Columbia, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands — to gain FPA. The American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP) congratulates the entire state, including all NPs and other stakeholders who worked to bring this historic achievement to patients in Kansas!
