Call for Nominations: Become More Involved with DCNP! Run for an Elected Position!

Members of the Delaware Coalition of Nurse Practitioners (DCNP) are a critical component of the organization’s leadership. Each DCNP member has knowledge, experience and skills that are beneficial to the continued growth of the DCNP and the advancement of the NP role in Delaware. Every January, DCNP holds elections for positions on the Board of Directors. This cycle, the Board of Directors is pleased to announce the positions up for election are the President-elect, Secretary and Northern Chapter Coordinator and one position on the Nominations Committee. Below please see a description of these positions and the estimated monthly time commitment.

Reasons to become involved in your state NP organization:

  • Feel more connected to your colleagues and the organization.
  • Acquire a better understanding of the DCNP and its role in advancing NP practice.
  • Enhance your leadership skills.
  • Improve patient and system outcomes in Delaware.

If you are interested in running for one of these positions, please submit a copy of your CV/resume and a brief statement about why you are interested in the position to delawarenpcoalition@gmail.com or by using the Contact Us tab on the DCNP website. Submissions must be received by December 13, 2024. Electronic voting of the ballot will take place from mid-January to mid-February 2025. All candidates will be notified of the results by early March 2025. Newly elected officers will assume the roles and responsibilities of their elected positions at the Annual Business Meeting in mid-March 2025. Candidates must be a DCNP Full NP Member for 12 months prior to the election in mid-January.

Descriptions of the Positions for the 2025 Elections:

President-Elect: Serves as President-Elect for one year then ascends to President for one year, then serves as Past-President for one year. Candidates must be willing to accept this 3-year commitment. Performs duties as assigned  by the President. Estimated commitment of 10-15 hours per month.

Secretary: Writes minutes of the proceedings of all Board of Directors meetings, the Annual Business Meeting and any special meetings called by the President. The Secretary serves for a 2-year term. Estimated commitment of 10 hours per month.

Northern Chapter Coordinator:  Serves 2-year term. Interacts with pharmaceutical representatives to schedule and organize monthly dinner meetings and collaborates with the Board of Directors on strategies to increase  chapter membership. Estimated commitment of 10-15 hours per month.

Nominations Committee: Serves 2-year term. Estimated commitment 5-10 hours per month depending on the month.
