Congratulations Delaware NPs: 2025 NP Week
Posted about 3 hours ago by Marty Buonato
As we go about our day-to-day work we rarely take the time to recognize the activity and movement of our days. I’m working on having my students spend intentional time on developing a reflective practice. A clear “do as I say, not as I do” endeavor! Life is complicated, busy and our work, the work of the Nurse Practitioner, particularly intense. It’s what we signed on for, but it is intense. We combine two distinct disciplines, nursing and medicine, and we give our knowledge, our compassion, our connectedness with others. What we do takes energy. It also provides us with incomparable joy. We NPs are privileged to do the work that we do. This week, let me encourage you to stop. Do it on purpose. Do it intentionally. Just stop. Perhaps in the middle of a day for no reason (although here in Delaware, the Fall spectacle has been something to behold! Maybe soak in the beauty of the season). And when you stop, conjure up those times when you have worked miracles for others. Miracles that take intellect, critical thinking, compassion, and empathy. Miracles that made a difference in the lives of your patients and because of you, made a difference in your very being.
This week is National Nurse Practitioner week. Let’s wrap ourselves in the warm cloak of our profession and celebrate our education, our profession and our practice. We have earned that moment of pride.
Happy NP Week to my Delaware colleagues!
